Suspects Arrested Over Daring Louvre Jewel Heist
Paris, Oct 26, 2025 (Reuters) — Authorities in France have arrested suspects linked to a bold daylight theft of several crown jewels from the Louvre, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau confirmed on Sunday.
Beccuau said one suspect was detained at Charles de Gaulle Airport as he attempted to flee the country. She did not specify how many individuals were taken into custody or release further details.
The heist, which targeted some of France’s most valuable royal artifacts, sent shockwaves through the art and security world. The investigation is ongoing.

Trump Begins Asian Tour with Major Diplomatic Push
Kuala Lumpur, Oct 26, 2025 (AFP/Reuters/The Straits Times) — US President Donald Trump landed in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, kicking off a five-day Asian tour that includes Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea, with high-stakes meetings aimed at trade, diplomacy, and regional stability.
Trump, greeted with a red-carpet welcome and cultural performances, attended the 47th ASEAN Summit, co-signed a ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, and announced new trade and minerals deals with regional partners.
Calling the truce a “monumental step,” Trump said the United States intended to remain a “strong partner for many generations.”
The visit marks Trump’s first trip to Southeast Asia in his second term, and Malaysia’s first hosting of a sitting US president since Barack Obama’s 2014 visit.
However, the arrival was met with mixed reactions. Protests broke out in Kuala Lumpur, where demonstrators waving Palestinian flags gathered to denounce Trump’s visit, citing his stance on Gaza. Police cordoned off parts of the city, relocating protests from Ampang Park to Merdeka Square.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who has positioned himself as a prominent voice on global geopolitical issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, welcomed Trump despite policy differences.
Trump’s itinerary includes talks in Tokyo with Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and a key meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping in South Korea later this week, in an effort to resolve lingering trade tensions and discuss regional security.
