Navi Mumbai, Oct 27, 2025 — Bangladesh lost the toss and were asked to bat first by hosts India in their final group-stage match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, held at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Monday.

The toss was delayed by about 30 minutes due to rain, though no overs were lost. However, soon after the coin flip, dark clouds returned, forcing the ground staff to bring the covers back on as rain resumed.

Bangladesh made one change in their lineup, bringing in Sumaiya Akter in place of Fargana Hoque, while Uma Chetry was handed her debut cap for India.

The Tigresses began their campaign with a promising win against Pakistan but have since struggled, sitting at the bottom of the eight-team table with just two points from six matches. Despite spirited performances against England and South Africa, they failed to convert those efforts into victories. Against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh suffered a heartbreaking collapse—needing just 12 runs off the last 12 balls with six wickets in hand, they eventually lost by seven runs.

India, meanwhile, have already secured their place in the semifinals after a dominant win over New Zealand, making today’s fixture largely a formality for the hosts.

Bangladesh Women (Playing XI): Sumaiya Akter, Rubya Haider Jhelik, Sharmin Akhter, Sobhana Mostary, Nigar Sultana (captain & wicketkeeper), Shorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Rabeya Khan, Nahida Akter, Nishita Akter Nishi, Marufa Akter.
